Universal Basic Outcome

Universal Basic Outcome is a foundational output and goal of the Infinite Win.

It is the product of Common Service Systems that meet one or many Fundamental Human Needs, and/or our shared Common System Needs.

Universal Basic Outcome is a Strong Social and Ecological Foundation upon which all beings can grow.

Without it we are building on unstable ground.

The ability to Meet our Needs is a Human Right. As is the ability to access structures and infrastructures that provide them.

However theoretical rights, need to be supported by real world resources.

Our current Social Cultural Systems, are a more often a barrier to the meeting of such rights, rather than a scaffold to assist it their growth.

Universal Basic Outcome, would ensure that we actually have access to what we need for Universal Human Rights to be fulfilled.

An existing example of Universal Basic Outcome is Breathable Air.

Something you take for granted until it becomes scarce.

Others lack even the experience of what clean air is like.

Universal Basic Outcome is the product of a Common Service System (Great Provider) – many beings* working to produce an essential service that meets our Needs.

These Great Providers must in turn be Served, in order to continue providing us with a Universal Basic Outcome.

(eg. controlled burning for forest management)

Others Great Providers require building from scratch.

eg. The Green Power House contributes towards meeting Energy, Soil Nutrition, and Food Needs.

Our present economic system, does not recognise many Great Providers as having Value.

Or worse still it recognises them as only having Value if they are destroyed and converted to scarce and controllable forms of Value.

Since only things which are scarce and can be controlled can have monetary Value.

The system incentivises scarcity and control.

Which leads us to having less of what we Need, and the destruction of our Great Providers.

The Infinite Win System recognises Great Providers as producing Value.

Great Providers do not need to be governed.

They need to be served, just like they serve us.

They need Nurturing Relationships.

Common Service Systems have historically been used to control populations.

Water**
Oil
Land
Health (likely coming soon via Privatised Vaccine distribution).
Spice

**AKA Hydraulic Despotism

Such systems of control limit a population’s ability to create Value.

As beings focus on ensuring personal security, rather than exploring collective opportunity.

Universal Basic Outcome frees the innovative spirit from the shackles and concerns of securing food and shelter.

What if 7 billion minds were able to search for ways to improve and expand life’s expression unhindered by the trivialities of daily survival?

*Being in this instance is “that which exists”

This podcast, playfully explores the concept in quite a lot of detail. Some years before.

Doughnut Economics
The central ring at the centre of Doughnut Economics is Social Foundation – which represents some of the core requirements of a Universal Basic Outcome. The Ecological Ceiling is better understood as Earth’s Carrying Capacity – which is not a fixed quantity but the Universal Basic Outcome product of an Infinite Win relationship.

Indigenous concepts, relationships, rituals and language
In our understanding of the needs of Great Providers we would do well to listen and learn to those who still have deep relationships with these systems, and retain the art of both listening, recognition and service. A good place to start is Braiding Sweetgrass.

Common Service Systems should be understood as one name we can give to these beings, but also it is a name that denies their beingness. For the collection of microbes that inhabit and serve us we are also a Common Service System, we are able to be that, and be a wide expression of life, self and identity.

Common Service Systems is a means by which we may be conscious of Great Providers or kin in an economic dialogue. But we should recognise also the perils of such abstractions (just as we should recognise the perils of concepts like Homo Economicus). In the above text I have for the most part opted towards Great Provider as it better reflects the nature of our relationship to such systems. I’m searching for more information regarding the variety of indigenous views regarding these relationships, and welcome any dialogue to expand my conceptual vocabulary. At the same time, I humbly seek to establish my own relationships and cultivate what has been lost to my culture for centuries.

We should get into the habit of using many names to describe the world around us, as it allows us to relate to it in more numerous ways. Other terms we could use include Super-Symbiotes and Symbiotic-Cyborg Cultures. We should get comfortable switching names and avoid linguistic monocultures, yet at the same time we should seek language that can help us relate better to all worldly beings.

Critically in our concept of Great Providers, Humans are a part of such Common Service Systems. We are organs and microbiota of Super-Symbiotic and interwoven bodies of inter-being. We belong to them.

It is from the indigenous lens we get to Personhood of Ecosystems such as Rivers. Personhood has been enjoyed and exploited by Corporations for many years, with corporations enjoying rights far beyond that of individuals (but with little to none of the responsibilities).

In order to serve Great Providers, we also need to expand our view of service beyond the purely material lens. Ritual and ceremony are acts of deepening attention to a relationship. The more ways of seeing, perceiving and relating to the world we can cultivate, the greater our ability to perceive what is needed. Lenses by their nature bring some things into sharp focus, whilst blurring and obscuring others. We should get into the habit of swapping lenses frequently, and never forget which glasses we are wearing.

The Great Reset
“The Great Reset agenda would have three main components. The first would steer the market toward fairer outcomes. To this end, governments should improve coordination (for example, in tax, regulatory, and fiscal policy), upgrade trade arrangements, and create the conditions for a “stakeholder economy.” At a time of diminishing tax bases and soaring public debt, governments have a powerful incentive to pursue such action.

Moreover, governments should implement long-overdue reforms that promote more equitable outcomes. Depending on the country, these may include changes to wealth taxes, the withdrawal of fossil-fuel subsidies, and new rules governing intellectual property, trade, and competition.”

There is no “fairer outcome” than Universal Basic Outcome.

The second proposal from the great reset is investment in infrastructures to ensure the above. Common Service Systems could be such infrastructures worthy of investment.

The third proposal – harnessing innovation, has ties to the Infinite Win.

Note: regarding the Great Reset, I consider it a discussion rather than a plan. Strategically harnessing the energy of that discussion could prove useful, although great care should be taken to ensure that the narrative of Universal Basic Outcome is supported by actual real actions to the creation of it.
